Have you ever felt lost in your grief or wondered if something greater was guiding you through your pain?

Close your eyes for a moment.

Imagine this: You’ve been buried by sorrow. But what if, like a seed, you’ve actually been planted—meant to grow, rise, and bloom into something divine?

This is the heart of the message shared by Reverend Sue Frederick, bestselling author of Angel Up: The Angel’s Guide to Ascension. In a deeply moving conversation on the Grief 2 Growth podcast, Sue joins host Brian D. Smith to discuss how connecting with angels for guidance can help us move from despair to divine remembrance.

This article and the accompanying podcast will walk you through that message and give you practical ways to call in your own angelic support, right now.

👼 What Are Angels and How Do They Help?

When people hear the word “angel,” many picture winged beings in glowing robes, but Sue offers a more expansive view.

“Angels are light beings who live closest to the God source. They don’t give advice—they just love on us.”

Unlike spirit guides or departed loved ones, angels don’t operate through personality or logic. They exist purely to comfort, uplift, and restore your energy. You might not see them with your eyes, but you can feel their presence as warmth, peace, or a sudden wave of calm in chaos.

They come when we are in pain. They lift us when we’re at our lowest. And according to Sue, they are available to each of us. Right now.

🧬 Can Humans Become Angels?

One of the most surprising truths Sue shares is this: Some angels choose to incarnate in human form.

“Some souls come from the angelic realm to stand side-by-side with those who are suffering.”

These beings carry deep wisdom, but life on Earth—dense and chaotic—often causes them to forget. Part of their journey is to reawaken their divine identity. You may know someone who radiates peace and compassion. Or maybe you are one of them.

Signs you may be an incarnated angel:

  • You’ve always felt different or out of place.

  • You’re highly sensitive to others’ emotions.

  • You’re drawn to healing, service, or spiritual work.

  • You’ve endured deep pain—but use it to help others.

💔 Sue’s Journey: From Grief to Awakening

Sue’s awakening began with unimaginable pain. In her 20s, she was living her dream—teaching mountaineering, climbing 14,000-foot peaks, and in love with her husband Paul.

Then Paul was diagnosed with colon cancer.

“He died in my arms. But I saw his spirit lift from his body. That moment changed everything.”

After Paul’s death, Sue’s world collapsed. A year later, her best friend Chrissy passed from leukemia, and visited Sue in a vivid, joy-filled dream that same night. Grief cracked her open. But through these experiences, Sue began to see beyond the veil.

She heard messages. Felt presences. And started receiving guidance that would become the foundation of her spiritual teaching.

✨ How to Connect with Angels for Guidance

If you’re wondering how to connect with angels for guidance, you don’t need special training. You only need an open heart.

Here are three simple but powerful practices Sue teaches:

1. Use the Angelic Mantra

Say aloud—or silently:

“Angels, help me. Heal me. Lift me. Love me.”

Repeat this before bed, during meditation, or anytime you feel overwhelmed. Many feel their presence instantly.

2. Try Automatic Writing

Ask a question, such as:

“What do you want me to know today?”

Then write without thinking. Don’t edit. Don’t judge. Let the words flow.

Over time, this opens a channel where your angelic team can speak directly through your hand.

3. Meditate to Raise Your Frequency

When we’re stuck in grief or fear, it’s harder to receive messages. Meditation quiets the mind so the soul can listen.

Try repeating a Sanskrit mantra like “Om Namah Shivaya” or simply breathe deeply while visualizing white light around you.

🌠 What It Means to "Angel Up"

Sue’s book Angel Up isn’t just a guidebook—it’s a call to action.

To “angel up” means to choose love, no matter what. It means being a light in dark spaces, even when you’re grieving or hurting.

“You can just go to a coffee shop and say something kind to someone. That’s angelic living.”

When war, illness, or injustice overwhelm us, we often send worry. But Sue teaches us to send love. To beam light into the world like a prayer, knowing it makes a real difference.

🌍 Why the Light Always Wins

In 2014, after teaching a grief workshop, Sue became ill with a high fever. During this time, she had a vision:

She was lifted out of her body and shown Earth as a glowing sphere, covered in beams of light.

“The angels said: The light is always winning. Even when it looks dark up close, love always prevails.”

This message guided her through another profound test: her own colon cancer diagnosis, the same illness that took Paul. But this time, with angelic support, she healed.

The message? We are never alone. And the light never stops working.

🧮 Numerology and Soul Paths (Bonus Insight)

Sue is also a master numerologist. She believes our birth date holds keys to understanding our soul’s purpose.

For example, someone with a Life Path 8 is learning about the right use of power. Someone with a Life Path 9 is here to embody compassion and service.

“When you understand your soul path, you stop blaming others. You start walking your true journey.”

🧘 You Are More Divine Than You Know

If you’ve read this far, your soul is ready. Ready to reconnect with the loving forces guiding you. Ready to remember who you are.

You don’t have to do it alone.

Grab a journal. Light a candle. Say the mantra. Write the question. Then listen.

And when you’re in traffic or at the store, smile. Offer a kind word. Send love.

You are a messenger of the divine.
