This was lovely and totally engaging. I was running late for a meeting but could not stop reading til the end. How wonderful that Shayna was there, providing healing. -Like you do for us, Brian, thank you for this.

This story is absolutely beautiful Brian. So much was similar to the loss of my husband (my second marriage) and this second year since his passing is much harder, or maybe just much different than the first was. I could feel every one of the emotions Andi was going through and when her nurse said her name was Shayna, I just started crying! This story was truly a labor of love for you and that came through all along the way. Thank you for sharing this. I just discovered you, your podcast, and your substack in the last week or so and am so grateful for all that you've shared of your family's journey with grief. I have come to believe that although it's one of the hardest things I've had to go through, it has in many ways been one, if not the most, meaningful thing that has happened to me. I am still learning. I recently told my daughter (my first born) that hearing her take her first breath when she was born, and being there with my husband when he took his last breath, were two of the most profound moments in my life. They will remain so forever! Thank you again.
